April 2018

Dear parents/carers,

Welcome to the first half term of the summer term. We hope you had a lovely Easter break.

The topics we will be studying this half term are:

R.E- Buddhism

Art- ‘Still life’

Healthy living unit – Diabetes

PSHE- Drugs and Alcohol

Science- Animals Including humans

Computing- We Are Architects

PE- Swimming, tennis and Morris dancing.

Children are reminded to wear full school P.E kit, including shorts for indoor activities, and to have a change of shoes for this lesson. Children are not to wear jewellery during P.E lessons to prevent injury. Class 3 and 5 will have P.E on Monday and Class 4 will have P.E on Friday. Class 4 and 5 will continue to attend swimming lessons on Wednesday and Class 3 will attend on Friday.

As a reminder, homework is compulsory and will be given out on Monday (to be returned on Wednesday) and Wednesday (to be returned on Friday). During the weekend, children will be expected to continue practicing their number bonds, multiplication tables and weekly spellings.

How you can help your children at home

We encourage children to read aloud to an adult at home as often as possible to improve their fluency and understanding of a variety of texts. This is of great importance as your child prepares to move into year 6 after this term. Your support with this is greatly appreciated. With this in mind, parent helpers who are interested in reading with the class can do so by talking to the class teacher to arrange a time to come into school.
