Nursery / Early Years Centre

The Nursery is an integral part of Yardley Primary School. Early Year’s education is extremely important to the future success of children. The foundations of learning and personality are built during the first years of life. We help establish these foundations for young children through play and talk with other children and with adults who help children extend their learning. We believe that children learn most effectively when they are happy, feel secure and valued. We encourage social, language and mathematical learning within a very broad and exciting curriculum that offers much opportunity for both free and structured play.

Nursery is the start of the Foundation Stage of education, which runs through to the end of Reception. We have 30 full time equivalent places at our nursery providing 60 part time places and the school take 60 full time reception pupils each September. Unfortunately, as in all schools, there are 2 separate admission processes for nursery and reception – so a place in the nursery does not guarantee a place in the school.

Whilst nursery may be considered the ‘start of going to school’, learning starts from birth and is continuous throughout life. To help toddlers with their learning we run a range of parent/toddler groups throughout the year at our Early Years Centre. You are very welcome to attend these.
